Qualification Type: Further Education and Training Certificate
Duration of study: At least 12 months. It has Theory, Practical, and Work Place Training components.
What is the purpose of the program?
To develop Ancillary Health Care practitioners who will practice the roles of health promoters, health provider and health networker within a community development context.
The individuals will be able to:
- Assist in planning and implementing promotion programs for Health Care within communities.
- Assist in the facilitation and implementation of primary health care projects within the community.
- Achieve ancillary health care objectives within own community/work context.
What are the entry requirements?
- Community Health Work Level 3/Grade11 with passes in Mathematical literacy and English
- Possession of Grade 12 is an advantage
- Computer Literacy at NQF Level 3 is strongly recommended

What is the purpose of the program?
To equip learners with the skills and knowledge required to perform ancillary health care at a higher level than Ancillary Health Care Level 1. Qualifying learners will integrate a range of basic awareness & competencies to perform health care activities, create awareness on critical health care issues, perform the roles of health promoters, assist the health networker, manage & implement fundamental administrative, physical & life skills to ensure ongoing well-being and work productivity.

What is the purpose of the program?
To equip learners with the competence required to perform community health functions under the supervision of a professional health care worker or nurse. Qualified learners in this field will provide a service that will assist communities to better manage their own health and wellness.
What are the entry requirements?
- At least grade 8 or equivalent certificate or an ABET Level 3 qualification.
- Learners must also have the following skills: reading, writing, and speaking in English, ability to undertake independent learning.
- Learners who have successfully completed a care worker program.
What can I do after obtaining this qualification?
- Find employment as a Care Giver/Care Worker.
- Enroll to study the national certificate in Ancillary Health Care at Levels 2(Community Health Work Level 2)
